Metamorphosis
Everything here is mid-change — the blooms, the wings, the water. So was I when I painted it.
Everything that binds a caterpillar to the earth dissolves in a dark Chrysalis and becomes a butterfly that knows no limits in the sky. Eyes that only saw black and white now see in vibrant rainbow colors. We don’t choose our path of pain and suffering, we do not choose it but it is in our power to rise out of that darkness and into our freedom. Dr. Urquhart (2002) discovered that the very cells that make up the butterflies wings and other parts, exist in the caterpillar! It is not just potential, it is their future! The journey through the darkness, through the dissolving of everything we once knew and loved, takes us there, rewards us with wings of joy and freedom.
